my year in instagram self portraits

hello lovely,

i was sitting on our couch thinking about how we've been in this house for one year and i couldn't believe it. one year! already? this year was the fastest yet. while i was thinking of how fast this year felt i suddenly realized i was reaching the anniversary of when i got my iphone too. (my first instagram photo was a picture of our tv set up on a rubbermaid tub) its been one year since i became married to a phone. these things are so addictive. i decided it would be fun to mark this anniversary with "a year in self portraits." just to see how i've changed over the course of a year. i noticed a few themes as well. if you look carefully you can see the many sides of alyssa: the classic vintage one, the weird one, the big haired one, the loving one. it was a pretty fun project to prep. next i might have to do "a year in dog portraits." that will be a long post...

i have a problem. in my heart i believe less is more. i want to live simply and have less clutter. BUT deep deep within i'm also obsessed with kitschy nick-nacks. i can't help it. i want an army or ceramic deer, any odd shaped planter you can think of, and everything in between. as you can see these are two very conflicting ideals. so, i will live out my kitschy dream here on the blog and save the husband some extra dusting. all of these can be found on etsy if you can't life without it. just save the plate for me please.

her dream dress

hello lovely,
i had a lovely weekend. i got to accompany my friend allison and her bridesmaids and mom to go pick out her wedding dress. im technically a groomsmaid but she was sweet enough to ask me to tag along. allison walked away with her dream dress. it was the one she knew she wanted from the start and she looked beautiful of course. here are a few photos from the day. i tried to do a day in photos but got wrapped up in all the great shopping. we went to anthropologie, urban outfitters, original penguin, crate and barrel, and my favorite... paper source! i of course was cheap and came away with one towel, but still it was fun to window shop. 
hope you managed to stay cool and have a nice weekend. it was 107 degrees here. ugh!

the littlest indie rock baby

hello lovely,
well, the littlest indie rock baby was born a few weeks ago. she is the smallest little thing weighing in at less than 7lbs. she is so precious. i took a few photos and had to share some with you since you saw her  wild rumpus shower. seeing her made all those momma genes inside me go crazy! i can wait though...
