hello lovely,

we participated in the 54hr film festival a few weeks ago. it was the first time most of our team had ever done a film festival. we got lucky and drew the genre we wanted first pick: film noir. i got to live out my dream of being the femme fatale. we won 4 awards: best score, best wardrobe, best production design, & best use of prop.  the elements we had to use were :

oscar month

Hello lovely,
To celebrate Oscar month the husband and I've been watching as many Oscar winning films as we can. Tonight it was Amadeus. Our criteria is the film has to be nominated or have a nominated actor or actress in it. It's been really fun. I'm also taking the opportunity to check off a few more films from my top 100 list. Here are the films we've watched so far. Hopefully we will be able to squeeze Benjamin Button and All About Eve in before the awards.
Hope your Valentine's Day was full of love. I took some photos of Niles' Valentine. I was pretty proud of the wrapping. I'll post soon.

favorite things: classic movie posters

hello lovely,
it has been awhile since i did a legit "favorite things" blog post! i decided to bring it back. as most of you know, films are one of my favorite things. i love classic movies especially film noir, period epics, and musicals. i also love to incorporate my passion for film in the decorating of my home. i have a giant framed singin' in the rain movie poster, the muppet movie vinyl, and a small print of roman holiday's movie poster in italian. to me they are art. here are some i'd love to have in my collection some day.

no it isn't christmas time. it is 31 days of oscar time! i love this time of year. every night there is an amazing classic film to watch. free movie dates every night! some of you may already know this, but i have a goal to watch all of the AFI 100 greatest films. not the newer list, the original list. (it includes more classics) maybe this 31 days of oscar season i'll check off a few more from the list. here are the films i'm most excited to watch. (you will notice bette davis stars in half of the films on my list...that is because she is the best) so far saturday, february 12th looks like the best day. wuthering heights, mr. smith goes to washington, the wizard of oz! it is a 1939 day :) 
oh... and my most favorite vacation is this month too....CABIN NASTY! february is looking like a pretty awesome month.

engagement photos

hello lovely,

after several scheduling issues, we are now about to take our engagement photos! niles worked it out so we could take some of the photos in the bijou theater downtown. i am too excited for words. i keep picturing them being like images from walk the line. i have a fantastic june carter cash dress i'll be wearing for some of the photos.
