my fall fashion favorites

hello lovely,
well it seems august came and went and there was radio silence on the blog. whoops. i've been really busy with the following things:

- work - a heck of a lot going on there

- helping plan next year's family reunion

- starting an amazing event for next spring *

- getting ready for a special series on the blog **

- celebrating my husband's birthday

- watching luther on netflix

- planning our anniversary weekend (2 years! can you believe it?)

and then, like that, august was gone. but I'm back and looking forward to fall! looking ahead at the fall fashions i'm really hoping this horrible 90s high waisted mom jeans look is on the way out.  here are a few upcoming fall trends i'm really loving.

hello lovely,
i haven't style blogged in a long time, but i was looking rather colorful on a warm july day and asked my moon to snap a few photos. this outfit was so bright and cheery. i pieced the look together one morning when i was feeling in an exceptionally good mood and wanted it to last. it definitely brightened up my work day.  my thrifted scarf tied everything together and i felt happy all day long.

a moment in time

today is may 2nd 2013.

i am 9449 days old.

niles is 10104 days old.

the best thing to happen to me today was getting to conduct my first interview.

the worst thing that happened to him today was having his show get a 2nd rewrite.

i really like this dress because i think it is super mod.

he likes to wear dress socks at all times. 

we live in our first home together.

our mortgage is our only debt.

we are looking forward to our first screened in porch party saturday night.

i have a sunburn that is peeling on my feet and legs.

he is growing a dirty mustache and sideburns for his best friend's bachelor party in June.

we are happy.

it is supposed to rain this weekend. 

veil alternatives

hello lovely,

my friend is getting married and isn't your typical bride. so, i've been looking for unique wedding dresses that will suit her style. with that comes figuring out what type of veil she could rock with this unique dress. here are some pretty veil alternatives i've found so far. this batch is all from twigs and honey. so romantic and lovely! i wonder if i could make a copy cat of any of these...

the candy stripe dress

hello lovely,
there is a fabulous mid mod store in downtown clinton that i can't get enough of. great linens, mid century decor & furniture, and some clothes. buried deep within the rack was the 8 dollar dress. the first thing i noticed was the precious candy stripe pattern. then, i saw the buttons. cute little buttons on the shoulders and a simple row down the back. to top it all off there are sweet little bows on each pocket with a belt around the waist. and THEN it was only $8? dreams really do come true! i loved it so much that once it was warm outside to wear it for the first time i made niles snap a few photos. in other news... the clinch river antiques festival is coming up in a few weeks and i can't wait! the most wonderful time of the year...

my trends for spring summer 2012

hello lovely,

i can't wait for  this spring/summer. there are just so many special events to look forward to. a bridal shower for my best friend rachel, a baby shower for a lovely new addition to my friendship family, my sister's graduation, our trip to europe and much more. i'm also looking forward to wearing some of my favorite clothes. i feel happier in the warmer weather. it makes me want to be more adveturous in my style choices too. there is just so much more to work with. here are some of the looks i can't wait to rock in the sunshine.

indie rock baby

hello lovely,
well thank goodness one of our friends is having a baby. i now have an excuse to look at all the hip kid blogs i look at. niles and i want to have kids eventually, but right now it is hard enough having a dog! this way i can get my baby fix without having to birth one just yet :) momma colleen has an awesome sense of style and together with papa corey they share a fantastic taste in music. so your every day babies-r-us stuff won't cut it for this hip kid.  i decided to gather a few awesome baby blogs for corey and colleen's future kiddo as well as a few must have baby products i love. i find looking at blogs to be a great way to learn about new products, and get style and design ideas. i hope this helps you plan for the cutest indie rock baby there ever was.

Sophie the giraffe is a great teether for boy or girl. kids love this thing. and she is cute to boot!

bleubird is my most favorite blog EVER. miss james posts great products for the whole family, cute design and style ideas, and shares personal stories about her own parenting journey. when she was pregnant with her baby bird she did an awesome maternity series. she also shares cool products for momma and baby. 

one thing she did that was really interesting is share her birth story. you can read about it here. she did a water birth at home which i find to be incredibly brave and fascinating. 

i totally have a crush on her and you will love their hip family.
