springtime dreaming

hello lovely,
sorry for the radio silence these days. i'm currently working on two series at the same time. it is proving to be doable, but tiring. i come home and all i want to do is cuddle up on my couch, watch the wire, and mindlessly surf the internet. the perk of all this is i've been working on my spring inspirations. i am over the cold. i think that is another reason why i'm so lazy these days. its always so dark and cold when i come home. doesn't exactly make me want do any projects. this spring i have a few goals for myself. these are some inspirations to help me get motivated.

by the way, i've missed this. promise to do better

1. paint and decorate the screened in porch

striped pillows
navy, green, white, & tan

shabby cabinet turned bar

2. build up our fire pit

natural look

classic stone

3. build a hall tree

bench built into old door. add some hooks for coats

add a mirror or a shelf

4. repaint my guest bedroom furniture

white outside, colored drawers

ombre drawers

i may have a few too many projects for one spring

antique window ideas

hello lovely,
we had a shoot over at a salvage yard today for work and i found a vintage window treasure trove! there were several over there in good shape and the price was only $5 per window. the husband is going to screen in part of our deck while i'm away. i'm thinking i will do something special to my new window and hang in in our new screened in porch. here are a few ideas i've found to inspire me.

where troubles melt

hello lovely,
i am so excited. i've been looking for a print to frame that says "where troubles melt like lemon drops" for years. then when my sister showed be this DIY i knew i had to make my own. well, a few months later i finally did. i took a few photos and learned a few things. first, don't use transfer paper, ugh! the vinyl didn't want to stick to the canvas in the transfer and i just ended up doing it by hand. it was nice to have the cricut machine to make the letters look unique. you could easily purchase regular vinyl alphabet stickers too if you'd like. next time i want to do this over sheet music. i think that would be lovely too.
enjoy!

a simple southern shower

hello lovely,
my best friend's wedding is just around the corner! rachel is a southern girl with a love of soul food. katherine and i decided we wanted to have a shower that incorporated her classy style with her southern roots. i think we nailed it. the menu consisted of ocra fritters, the mother of the bride's famous baked beans, texas caviar, a fantastic trifle made by my mother in law, chicken salad crossants, and friend green beans to name a few. we had a mimosa bar with bellini, a classic mimosa, and the bride's favorite white grape mimosa. one of my favorite elements was the glass jars filled with baby's breath. it gave the tables this soft rustic feel that i love. we didn't have any planned games or activities because rachel isn't that kind of bride. instead, we all went around the room saying sweet things about the bride and giving our best advice for the bride and groom. it was an emotional moment, but one we will never forget. here are some pictures i snapped of the sweet day.
