the queen of hearts

hello lovely,
this has been such a busy month and june is only going to go by faster. which, i guess i'm okay with because the sooner june passes the sooner bubbie and i will be in europe! but before all that, there are so many lovely things coming up. including one of my best friends' wedding. last weekend the girls all got together to take her out for one last weekend on the town as a single lady. we took her to atlanta and it was a blast! katherine rented a 1920s home in the highlands that was super cute but had some...interesting decor. including some creepy dolls. the first night we had a fun night in with gifts, wine, and games. on saturday we had a lovely brunch followed by mani/pedis and some sun bathing. saturday night was spent bar hopping and partying with our queen of hearts bride. it was so fun! everyone we met at the bars in atlanta were so nice to us. it was so great to have a girls weekend. especially with the lovely women i am blessed to call my best friends. can't wait to see what a lovely bride rachel will be!

antique fest wrap up

hello lovely,
i know i'm a little late in posting this blog update. i've been working weird hours and going out on set for our re-creations this past week. i had a free moment so i am finally uploading pictures from this year's spring antique fest. i scored a few awesome items. a light blue vintage dress i'm going to hem up and blog about, an adorable teepee planter, & my most favorite... an antique sewing table turned end table! it is probably my favorite thing i've ever purchased. (other than my dog of course) here are a few pictures from the day. it was a bit cool and cloudy but we still had a great time.

we saw this technique on a lot of items at the festival this year. maybe i'll try it on my new magazine rack i picked up at the flea market this weekend

my new table and teepee! also got a lampshade for my fabulous vintage lamps we got as a wedding gift.

a simple southern shower

hello lovely,
my best friend's wedding is just around the corner! rachel is a southern girl with a love of soul food. katherine and i decided we wanted to have a shower that incorporated her classy style with her southern roots. i think we nailed it. the menu consisted of ocra fritters, the mother of the bride's famous baked beans, texas caviar, a fantastic trifle made by my mother in law, chicken salad crossants, and friend green beans to name a few. we had a mimosa bar with bellini, a classic mimosa, and the bride's favorite white grape mimosa. one of my favorite elements was the glass jars filled with baby's breath. it gave the tables this soft rustic feel that i love. we didn't have any planned games or activities because rachel isn't that kind of bride. instead, we all went around the room saying sweet things about the bride and giving our best advice for the bride and groom. it was an emotional moment, but one we will never forget. here are some pictures i snapped of the sweet day.
